Soldiers of Christ: Religious cult members arrested after woman’s body found in car trunk

The murder of a young woman from South Korea has resulted in the arrests of seven people in Duluth, Georgia, some of whom are alleged to be part of a religious cult, according to a statement from the Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD).

The GCPD announced that on Sept. 12, 2023 at about 10:50 p.m., officers responded to a call at 3555 Gwinnett Place Drive in Duluth. The caller informed the dispatcher that they believed a dead body to be inside of a vehicle parked outside of a South Korean spa.

Police discovered the beaten and malnourished body of a young woman within the trunk of the car, according to the GCPD statement. She weighed about 70 pounds at the time of her death, leading police to believe she had been malnourished and beaten for weeks before she died.

The victim has since been identified as 33-year-old Sehee Cho, PEOPLE Magazine reports. Investigators believe she moved to the US in order to join the very religious group that tortured and killed her: the “Soldiers of Christ.”
